For the leash to be effective, safe, and comfortable, it must be positioned very precisely on the dog's neck. Here are the key rules:

Ideal position:

  • High on the neck, just below the ears
  • Behind the jaw, at the throat level (not on the trachea) 
  • The leash should never be low on the neck, like an everyday flat collar 
  • The higher the leash is, the more effective it is with less pressure 
  • This position provides more control and avoids damaging the trachea
