Can my dog cut through Biothane with his teeth?
Yes . Biothane is designed to withstand daily wear and tear and traction, but it is not meant to be chewed. If a dog chews or nibbles on it, it can quickly split, cut, or damage it.
Same thing for the tug ball : do not let the dog eat the Biothane. This ball is made to throw or tug with you, because it is very resistant to traction, but the biothane that holds it is not resistant to small shark teeth :)
How do I maintain my products?
- Use warm water and mild soap : Fill a sink with warm water and add a little mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals that could cause damage.
- Rub gently : Immerse the product in soapy water and rub gently to remove dirt and stains.
- Rinse thoroughly : Once cleaned, rinse the product thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue.
- Air dry : After rinsing, allow the product to air dry, preferably in the shade.
Why can Biothane crack?
Biothane is a material known for its durability, water resistance, and ease of maintenance. However, like any material, it can wear out over time. Here are the most common causes of cracking.
1-Dog's Natural Sebum : The oil naturally produced by the dog's skin, especially on the neck, can build up and weaken the surface of Biothane over time.
2- Prolonged exposure to the sun : UV rays can dry out the material and reduce its flexibility, which increases the risk of cracking.
3- Extreme cold : When it is very cold, Biothane can become rigid. If it is bent or stretched in this state, it can cause cracks.
4- Lack of maintenance : Although it is easy to clean, Biothane must be washed regularly in warm water with a mild soap, then dried thoroughly.
Tip: Regular maintenance extends the life of your Biothane accessories.
Is Biothane strong and durable?
Tensile Strength : Biothane is extremely tensile, making it ideal for canine products. (Not bite resistant)
Weather Resistance : Biothane is waterproof and stands up well to changing weather conditions.
Durability : Biothane is durable and abrasion resistant, meaning it will look new even after extended use if properly cared for. (Wash with mild soap and allow to dry)
Dog Safety : Biothane is soft and comfortable for dogs, preventing irritation or unpleasant chafing that some other materials can cause. It is also non-toxic and safe for pets.
Let's Talk Hardware Stores
No "Light" hardware is used at Kraken. We only offer "Heavy Duty" hardware for our carabiners, D-rings, and rings. This doesn't mean they're completely waterproof, but it does promote better strength and durability compared to less premium biothane products on the market. As owners of a large dog, we want the best for our peace of mind and yours.
- Stainless is the most visually durable
- Brass does not change much visually but it can tarnish and leave marks on the biothane over time
- Black is powdercoat brass, it flakes off over time
- Climbing and tactical carabiners are made of aluminum. The black color is obtained by oxidation, which makes it more resistant than powder coat. They are also much lighter
Are your products suitable for small breeds?
Kraken products are made of heavy duty biothane , which makes them stronger, but also a little heavier . Our carabiners are also more robust, so less suitable for very small dogs or cats .
That said, our own little 14 lb beagle proudly wears Kraken products on a daily basis.
What should I do if my dog tends to chew on his leashes?
If your dog tends to chew on leashes, Kraken Biothane products may not be the right choice for you right now. Biothane is strong, but it's not designed to resist chewing. It's recommended to work on behavior before using these types of products.

Why do you sell Kraken and other brand products?
Kraken is our house brand, designed, manufactured and tested by our team and our dogs.
But we also collaborate with other favorite brands that share our high standards and our vision of a more functional and sustainable canine world.
Basically, if it's online on Kraken, it's because we use it ourselves at home.
Are all products tested before being put online?
We test most of the products we add to the store. Most of the time, when a new brand arrives at Kraken, it's because it's a product we've been researching ourselves and have been using for a while.
How do you choose the brands you offer?
We choose brands that align with the Kraken vision: robust, well-designed, and truly “game-changing” products for your dog training and sports.
Delivery and Packages
How long before my order is shipped?
All orders, whether or not they require production, take 2 to 10 business days to prepare and ship.
Which carrier will my order be shipped with?
We primarily use GLS, Purolator, UPS, and Canada Post . Repeated strikes by Canada Post will not impact your orders, as we choose the most appropriate carrier when shipping your package.
Do you ship internationally?
At the moment we only ship to Canada 🇨🇦
Is it possible to pick up my order in person?
There is no direct pickup option on the website, as we do not have a physical store. Message us privately on Messenger or Instagram, and we will explain the procedure and where we are at the time of your order.
